FAQS

Who can play?
We aren't going to turn people away - anyone can play in a team, but (yes there is always a BUT) we are aiming for non or inexperienced bowlers so if you are vying for a spot in the New Zealand team this may not be the competition for you.

Do I need to know how to play bowls?
On the contrary! We welcome first time bowlers or relative newbie's. This is a social competition designed for people wanting to give it a go. Our friendly Crack A Jack Co-ordinators and Volunteers will give you all the assistance you need to play.

How many people do I need for a team?
Teams are made up of three or four players, depending on the club you attend. These can be work mates, family, friends, neighbours - anyone!

What if I can't make it every week?
If you can't make it for whatever reason then anyone can fill in for you. You could even have a different 3 or 4 each week if you really wanted to, as long as you have enough players turn up representing your team. But of course you'll want to play more than just once!

What do I need to wear?
There are no clothes restrictions - wear what feels comfortable. Remember you are playing a sport!
As it is a team competition, feel free to organise a team shirt or colours of some description to add to the team atmosphere.

What footwear is required for bowls?
Flat soled shoes have to be worn - this is for the protection of the green. They can be runners or even jandals. Just think of a car tyre - small treads are fine, big treads like a 4x4 are no good (unless they are worn).

What equipment do I need to play?
None. Your Crack A Jack Club will supply the mats, bowls, jacks - all you need to do is turn up!

Is Crack a Jack competitive?
What isn't? Being a competition it is of course its going to have a competitive aspect to it - but the level of competitiveness will be entirely up to you!

Are there bar/food facilities available?
Yes, the bar will be open throughout the evening with alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages available for purchase. The majority of Crack A Jack clubs will have some sort of BBQ or food available.

When/Where can I play Crack a Jack?
Weeks vary between clubs. Some run it for a number of weeks before and after Christmas, others just one or the other. Each Club has a specified night. For dates and times check out the ''Clubs' link.

How much will it cost to play?
Costs between clubs vary so contact a club near you!
