About Our Programmes

Bowls Canterbury

Bowls Canterbury are extremely driven and excited to give the youth more Bowls opportunities. We see a lot of potential in these young athletes, so our focus has shifted to the Intermediate and Secondary School age groups. All of our programmes are unique and are specialised for each age group and abilities. Our main intention is to make sure our youth have enjoyable experiences learning the basics and having fun. We also want to make sure that those athletes that are excelling in our sport have the resources and programmes to challenge and push their skills and game capabilities. All of our programmes range of fun activities and modified games that encourage and promote decision-making, problem-solving, communication and fundamental target skills.

2022 - After two years of the Koru Games not happening due to covid, this year the games were in full swing and what a success it was. There were almost 3,000 participants from all over the South Island competing in 15 different sports. Lawn Bowls was a popular choice with 19 boys teams, 19 girls teams and 7 mixed teams entered. The level of talent among the year 7&8 students from schools around Canterbury was impressive. Over three days we saw great bowls games, awesome sportsmanship and etiquette. Thank you to the team out at the Lincoln Bowling Club and the Selwyn Sports Trust for your support and help over the Koru Games.

This year Emily Robbins from Bowls Canterbury organised the event and received support from Katie Griffiths Bowls Canterbury) and Lincoln Bowling Club.
